Contrary to myth, there is a specific set of general rules for proper cleaning. And, if you haved used someone who wasn’t trained, we’re sure you have experienced the gammut. Cleaners must start from the top of a room and work their way down. Generally, they should also work right to left or left to right to complete a task or whole room. We’ve seen companies start with vacuuming, then trample over their areas knocking down dust from upper pot shelves to be left after the clean because vacuuming is done. And, there are right and wrong products for every surface. We train our staff using proprietary methods to ensure every employee cleans the right way every time.
Someone untrained and unqualified to clean can be disastrous, akin to a bull in a china shop. For example, using an abrasive cleaner on laminate counters and floors can scratch. Using detergent on certain metals can change their finish (hence, what happens if you put a put tin/aluminum pots in a dishwasher with the wrong detergent). Certain cleaners with alkalis and acids can etch marble counters and floors at worst or degrade the sealant at best, making it harder to prevent future staining. Simple dusting of the surface of a priceless painting can ruin it. Make sure your cleaning staff knows all the cleaning dos and don’ts for all your surfaces. And, for extra assurance, make sure they are bonded and insured.
